Cuboree 2012
Theme is    VIDEO GAMES
.
Cuboree will be held this year on Saturday, April 28,
at Camp McLean, South Langley.

Registration usually begins at 9am. Event usually runs 10am-4pm approximately.

We need Nicomekl Area to organize and run a few stations.
Four stations would be marvelous!
     Ideas anyone?
**** You do not need to be a Cub leader to do a station ****

Cuboree / Camporee
Will be held as a Camporee (if Packs so desire) on April 27 th to 22th.
Forms and badge design info to be placed on Fraser Valley Council website soon.
Cost for Saturday day event (Cuboree) is: $6.00 per Cub, $3 per adult.
Cost for camping for the weekend is an additional: $9.00 per person.                     Registration is due by April 6 th. To be mailed to Dianne Sawatzky.
Crest design due by February 29th. Crests can be 7 colours, any shape, and must state Fraser Valley Council Cuboree 2012. Should also incorporate the theme of “Video Games.” Crest will be determined by Cuboree committee and Area Youth Reps.
It has been Suggested to invite relevant community groups to put on a station (eg: Raptor Ridge = Angry Birds). Lisa will look into this.
All other information in regards to planning Cuboree was tabled until the Cuboree Planning Meeting.

Cuboree Planning Meeting
Ed and Lisa request the presence of at least 1 Leader from each Pack to attend this meeting on February 29th , 6:30 pm @ St. Andrews Church. The Area Youth Reps will be invited to present the Area Sixers’ Council recommendations.
   We need committees formed for:
Stations (at least 4) – someone needs to organize the station then we hope to have volunteers to run (Leaders, Scouts, Venturers/Rovers?).
First Aid -- 1 person in charge for the day who remains near the First Aid Cabin and 3-4 assistants who wander the site.
Parking – hopefully Ken and Terry from the Council will help. Need volunteers (Scouts/Venturers/Rovers) to assist.
 Security – do we need?
Coffee – need someone to maintain coffee at Rotary throughout Cuboree.
Scouts Own – 1 person or a Pack needed to organize.
Campfires – plan to hold a campfire each night. Need a chief and fire builder ?        Cleanup – Ed, Lisa, and the Council will check out Packs from Camp and stations from Cuboree, to ensure cleanliness
All planning in regards to Cuboree was tabled until the February 29th meeting
.
At the October 2011 Scouters' Club it was decided we would like to do this as a Camporee (Friday to Sunday) and organize a campfire for both nights. Packs would be responsible for their own food and other activities throughout the weekend. Ed will pass this info on to the Council after we decide a theme.
There are a number of tasks needing to be done. These include:
Parking (possibly Venturers/Rovers with help)
Coffee (served at Rotary during the event)
Registration (Council normally organizes -- may need help on the day)
Site arrangement/coordination (who is doing what & where. Directing setup)
Opening and closing (Ed/Lisa with Nathan/Kyra. Do we need a sound system?)
Book Tim Hortons for the morning (Lisa is contacting them)
Book Porta-Potties (Does Council do this for Cuboree/Beaveree?)
First Aid (Possibly Venturers/Rovers)
Scheduling (when do we start/finish/lunch?)
Cleanup (Need a crew to help!)
Badge design (Have youth design a badge once a theme is chosen, and get it designed)
Stations (Each Area, including us, should have 3-5 Stations).
It was mentioned that this is the same weekend as UBC Nite Hike, so we may not get much help from the older Sections.
We will set up a committee for Cuboree, and possibly plan additional organizational meetings, at the November Scouters' Club.

At the Cuboree over 600 Cubs rotate through 12-15 fun activity stations throughout the day, including a Hug-A-Tree Station (usually).  Bring a lunch & a tarp to sit on (or under).   You may want to designate a meeting place for anyone who gets lost.  Each Cub should have a card in their pocket which has their full name & their leader's full real name and cell phone number. All Scouters are invited to help out, whether they are Cub leaders or not.
