We are looking for volunteers
to help out, on our committee, and especially with set up
& tear down on race day. Older scouts (14 years
old) and Venturers & Rovers welcome. We need
committee members to help with small jobs, phoning, etc.
We are still looking
for a few bodies to hang at the Scouting registration booth.

All Nicomekl Area Scouters,
Back in 1997, a few 3rd Cloverdale
parents and leaders took on the challenge of organizing and running
the first Clover Valley SoapBox Derby. From the beginning, it
has been open to Scouting and non-Scouting youth, helping it grow
and evolve into one of North America’s most exciting SoapBox
Derbies. It is now the Grand Am of Lower Mainland soapbox races,
boasting the longest soapbox track in Canada and possibly North
America. Its enormous success truly shows the accomplishments
that can be achieved by a relatively small group of dedicated
volunteers. The success has sparked enquiries from as far away
as New Brunswick and even Great Britain.
As our Scouting organization is in
the process of organizational changes, we feel it is appropriate
that we offer other groups in our newly founded Nicomekl Area
the opportunity to become part of this outstanding legacy.
Our committee consists of the following

We have always tried
to keep the committee as informal as possible but as formal as
necessary. Due to the moving on of some of our members, there
are a number of positions open to energetic individuals willing
to offer their expertise. Non-Scouters are also more than welcome.
As always, volunteers and organizers are paid in ‘Derby
Bucks’. One ‘Derby Buck’ is simply a smile on
a kid’s face.
Our next meetings are on Thursdays
Mar. 25 & Apr. 22 at 7:00pm at the Cloverdale Rec. Centre
(6220 184th St Surrey). Meetings become more frequent as we get
closer to Race Day, Sat. Sept. 18/04.
