Bring-A-Friend Pins
BC-Yukon Scouting is supplying pins to members who bring a friend to 2 regular meetings or 1 special event, like a camp or field trip. You get a pin for each friend you introduce to Scouting. An adult can wear their pin on the left side of the right pocket flap of their uniform shirt. Youths can wear them at the top of their sashes, and Beavers can wear them on their vests.
The Campfire Blanket
Beyond providing warmth and comfort, a Scouting member's campfire blanket is a record of events and activities right through from Beavers to Rovers to adult leaders. Crests and badges of all types are sewn on it (non-Scouting too). Crests are acquired by earning, buying & trading. The blanket can be worn as a cape or as a poncho or however you like. You can buy the official blanket at Scout Shop, or use a blanket you already have. Check if the material is fire retardant. Note that natural fibers won't melt & stick. Choose a colour that won't show dirt, and remember that solid backgrounds will display the crests better. He/she may still have this blanket ten, twenty...thirty years from now, whether involved in Scouting or not, so make certain it is warm and durable.
Fundraising Ideas

  * selling stuff that people would be buying anyway is usually more effective *
We have our standard Popcorn Sales (Sep-Nov) & Hot Chocolate Sales (Jan) & Scoutrees & Apple Days (Oct) & Xmas Tree Sales (Dec) & Tree-Chipping (Jan) & Gaming Revenue Grants.   Throughout the year we do Manure Sales, Hot Dog Sales, Pub Nights, Bottle Drives, Raffles, Chocolate Bar Sales, Dances, Silent Auctions, Pastry & Meat Sales, Carwashes, Fun Bowling Nights.........the list goes on and on. Each Scout Group has its own favourites. What else is there?
Adopt-A-Street Challenge
Langley Township will provide vests, pick-up tools, gloves and litterbags. The Township also offers support in the form of information, recognition & administration. We now have a signed indemnity agreement between Langley Scouting and Langley Township, so there is no need for any Langley Scout group to sign a waiver. We just need to sign the letter of committment to our chosen street. 1st Brookswood Thunderbirds have theirs and are challenging all other Langley Groups to do the same. Phone 604-532-7303, and talk to the Township's Solid Waste Department.
